NASA astronaut Anne McClain has done quite a bit in the last year and a half. She spent nearly seven of those months aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Due to the extended school closures, we will be offering 2020 summer programs primarily to support students in grades K-3 who are not reading at grade level, for high school students who may need additional credits towards on-time graduation, and for students who need Special Education Services.
The exception will be the accelerated math courses that allow students to move more quickly through the LWSD math pathways resulting in higher-level math options in their junior and senior years of high school.
Summer Programs Models
Summer School offerings will be conducted mainly remotely with ongoing support from certificated and classified staff.
Students will access summer school in four different ways dependent on their specific learning needs:
- Synchronous: Remote lessons with a teacher in real-time for students who are able to join on a schedule.
- Asynchronous: Remote lessons that are recorded by a teacher for students who need flexibility when they access instruction.
- Print materials distributed via mail or food distribution sites for students who need this option.
- Limited in-person: This option is being considered for some students who receive special education in special cases.
