The Family Literacy Night at John Muir Elementary School was a big success. Families were able to enjoy literacy activities like fun tongue twisters, reading tic-tac-toe, a book fair and a book giveaway.

Welcome to Lake Washington School District!
Lake Washington serves about 30,500 students (October 2021) in 57 schools. Our students live in Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish and portions of Bellevue, Woodinville and unincorporated King County.
New student registration
Please follow the steps below for online registration for a new K-12 student.

Steps to register new students (grades K-12)
Home-based instruction (homeschooling)
Declaration of Intent to Provide Home-Based Instruction must be filed annually
If you are a family who intends to provide your child or children home-based instruction in lieu of attendance or enrollment in a public school, an approved private school, or an extension program of an approved private school, you must file an annual declaration of intent to do so. Download the Declaration of Intent to Provide Home School Instruction (2022-23) | Declaration of Intent to Provide Home School Instruction (2023-24) or visit the district’s Resource Center (main floor) to obtain a copy.
If partial Home School Instruction is requested, please also fill out the Request for Part-Time Attendance form.
Transfer options: Attending a school other than the assigned neighborhood school
In-District Variance Process: Students who live in the district
Between District Transfers: Students who live outside the requested district
