Redmond, Wash. – The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Board of Directors has selected Dr. Jon Holmen to be the next Lake Washington School District Superintendent. They announced their decision on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Redmond, Wash. – The Lake Washington School District has been following guidance from Public Health in an effort to stay open as long as possible. In light of the current information shared today by our elected officials, we believe it is time to plan for alternative ways to serve our community and families. 

In collaboration with our School Board of Directors and our Lake Washington Education Association, we have made the decision to close all schools from March 12 through March 27, and re-evaluate any further closures during that time. 

In light of today’s news about a King County resident’s death related to the Coronavirus (or COVID-19), and that additional cases are anticipated, we wanted to reach out to share what Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is doing to monitor and prepare for a potential increase in frequency of the Coronavirus in our schools.

    Grab & Go Meals

    Grab and Go Student Meals

    To help support families during the school closure due to the coronavirus, Lake Washington School District is committed to providing healthy and nutritious meals to any child 18 and under for free. The district will be offering breakfast and lunch that can be picked up at the same time. There are two options:

    • Grab & Go Meals that can be picked up at 6 middle schools: Finn Hill, Inglewood, Kamiakin, Redmond, Rose Hill, and Timberline between 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    • Limited Meal Delivery pickup times vary depending on location selected

    Meal orders for both options will be accepted from 2:00 p.m. the previous day until 8:00 a.m. the day of the pickup. Children must be present to claim their meal. Children do not need to qualify for free or reduced meals to receive a meal, and no forms or registration are required. 

    Please be aware of required social distancing at meal pickup locations.

    Pantry Packs will have volunteers at each location on Fridays to provide meals for the weekend for any students that need one. For more information about the Pantry Packs program, please visit: https://www.lwsf.org/pantrypacks.html.

    Weekly menu

    For lunch, sandwiches are served on whole grain bread. All meals include whole fruit, vegetable of the day and choice of milk or juice
