CDL011/CDL012 - American Sign Language I
2 Semesters 1 Credit Fulfills: CTE & World Language

American Sign Language is the third most spoken language in the United States. The beginning course introduces students to the visual language and culture of the deaf. It provides insights into deaf culture, values, deaf attitudes, the deaf community and historical aspects of the language. This class is presentation based and taught in the target language. Two years of American Sign Language satisfies the World Language entrance requirement for many Washington State Colleges and Universities. By the end of the year, students will have a conversational knowledge of American Sign Language.
