|2 Semesters||1 Credit||Fulfills: Lab Science|
This year-long college-prep course is designed to help students understand the principles of life science with connections to Earth science. Students will use science and engineering practices and crosscutting concepts to investigate living systems at various scales. Specific topics include structure and function, growth and development of organisms, and matter and energy flow in organisms. Students will also explore cycles of matter and energy in ecosystems as well as ecosystem dynamics, functioning, and resilience and social interactions and group behavior. Students will investigate inheritance and variation of traits, evidence of common ancestry and diversity, natural selection, adaptation, biodiversity, Earth and human activity, and biogeology.
