2 Semesters 1 Credit Fulfills: CTE & Lab Science

Prerequisite: completed one year of biology and completion of or concurrent enrollment in a yearlong chemistry course

Students enrolled in this year-long course will complete a survey of all the major human body systems, starting at the cellular level and progressing through and how the different systems interact to maintain an organism’s homeostasis. In addition to human systems, physiology of some non-human animals will be covered. This course is a high intensity program for students interested in health science careers including medicine, veterinary medicine, emergency medical services, and athletic training. Students will have the opportunity to complete several dissection projects including hearts, fetal pigs and bovine eyes in order to improve their understanding of anatomy and physiology. Successful completion of this course qualifies students to receive college credit through Bellevue College.
