FOR111/FOR112 - French 1
2 Semesters 1 Credit Fulfills: World Language

Designed for beginning learners with limited or no prior experience with the language. This course is taught using a communicative approach and emphasizes oral communication about everyday topics. Students begin to develop Novice proficiency, communicating in French through interpersonal speaking and writing, presentational speaking and writing, and interpretive reading and listening. Students learn to introduce themselves and communicate through basic conversations about their interests, daily routine, and family and friends. This class is conducted in French as much as possible and an emphasis is placed on becoming a competent communicator. Students expand their understanding of French-speaking cultures in our community and other countries.

French 1 is not recommended for Heritage or Native speakers of French. If you speak French at home and/or have attended a French immersion program, please contact your school's French teacher to determine appropriate placement.
