MAT503/MAT504 - Statistics
2 Semesters 1 Credit Fulfills: Math

This course introduces statistical thinking and its relevance in such fields as medicine, social science, entertainment, and business. Students will use sampling methods, observational studies, and experiments to gather data and identify biases. Students will represent data with numerical summaries, use statistical software and graphing calculators, and describe patterns and trends. Students will conduct computations for situations involving probabilities, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing and interpret results. Discussions and projects emphasize statistical thinking and conceptual understanding. No college credit is offered for this class. Prerequisites: Algebra 2 CADR
