11th Grade American Studies is an integrated course that examines literature, non-fiction texts and the arts in the context of American history. Students will study the political, economic, literary, and artistic heritage of modern America. Current events will also be used to study the most recent developments in our culture and history. The course is designed to encourage the development of critical thinking skills through project-based learning, analytical reading and thinking, and structured writing and discussion. Students will also develop their abilities to work effectively with others as well as to work independently. Units of historical study are taught chronologically and are based on essential questions.
