2026-27 Transportation Update for LWHS Students

Dear Lake Washington High School families,

Currently, Metro provides transportation for LWHS students, including two district-funded routes (893 and 895). Due to rising costs and improved bus driver staffing, the district is transitioning the two district-funded routes to yellow school bus service.

Beginning in fall 2026, Routes 893 and 895 will be replaced by district yellow buses, saving over $197,000 annually while continuing to provide safe and reliable transportation.

Students who live within Metro’s regular community service area will continue to use Metro for their transportation.

  • Bus stop locations for the replaced routes 893 and 895 are expected to be similar to the current Metro service.
  • Route details are still being finalized and will be shared prior to the start of the 2026-27 school year.

We will provide additional details including bus stop locations, district route numbers, and schedules as soon as they are available.

Thank you for your partnership as we work to support safe and dependable transportation for our students.

Sincerely,
LWSD Transportation Department
