Fieldhouse and community pool refurbishment at Juanita High School

Construction phase one: Pre-Design

When Juanita High School was rebuilt and enlarged in 2019, the community recommended that the current fieldhouse and pool facility be retained. The only upgrade that was provided to the building at that time was exterior paint in order to better match the new educational facility. Both facilities are in need of upgrades and modernization in order to maintain these community assets.

Levy will focus on replacing four aging schools and upgrading/modernizing the fieldhouse and community pool at Juanita High School.

Redmond, Wash. – At the May 20, 2024, Board Meeting, Lake Washington School District proposed a Building Excellence Capital Construction Levy ballot measure for the November 5, 2024, election.

Construction Update Phase 2

At the November 20 School Board Study Session, Associate Superintendent Barbara Posthumus, Superintendent Holmen and Executive Director of Support Services Brian Buck shared an update to Phase 2 of the Building Excellence Plan.

Project Information

This project will provide upgrades and modernization of the Fieldhouse and Community Pool at Juanita High School. The Facility Advisory Committee recommended this project.

Community Pool at Juanita High School - Grant Summary:  LWSD developed phased strategy to address near-term needs, resulting in $18.7M offset 

Improvements will be complete by Fall 2025:

  • Upgrade HVAC equipment

  • Upgrade Pool infrastructure and equipment
  • Upgrade Pool finish, deck and viewing area
  • Upgrade Pool locker rooms

  • Replace pool cover system and infrastructure
  • Upgrade boiler system and remaining air handling units 
  • Modernize locker rooms & restrooms 
  • Update windows, doors & railings 
  • Upgrade fire/life/safety systems 
  • Upgrade lighting & electrical systems 
  • Modernize PE and support spaces 
  • Expand front entrance for improved access
