Margaret Mead Elementary School

We are so pleased that all our bond projects are now completed and ready for students. We want to thank the community for their continued support in building needed classroom space. While spending will still occur over the next year as we close out the projects, the charts below show planned 2016 bond program revenues and expenditures compared to current receipts and spending. Of the total planned revenues and expenditures of $434 million has been received to date. Of the total planned revenues and expenditures of $434 million that has been received to date, the district has spent $409 million.

Households around the district received the Building On Success Progress Report in mailboxes this month. It included an overview and progress updates on construction projects funded by the 2016 bond and the 2019 capital projects levy. The year 2019 was one to remember: We celebrated the grand openings of Timberline Middle School and the newly rebuilt Peter Kirk and Margaret Mead elementary schools. Progress continued on the remaining 2016 bond projects: Juanita High School and Old Redmond Schoolhouse. Construction also began on the addition at Lake Washington High School, funded by the Capital Projects Levy passed by voters in April 2019.

Before Seahawks Dancers led students in a countdown to cut the ribbon at their new school, parents and guests at Margaret Mead Elementary were treated to songs from more than 600 students. The Grand Opening celebration on November 14 also marked the school’s 40th anniversary. Retired teachers and staff received applause at the door as they arrived to celebrate with students.

Student volunteers led tours of the new Margaret Mead Elementary School during a community Open House on November 14. Visitors to the school were treated to music from The Royals Jazz and the Inglewood string ensemble.
