Elementary School Music

Elementary music

Students in elementary music classes will listen, perform, create and respond to music. Using a steady beat, students will learn to read, perform and create basic rhythmic and melodic notations. Students will demonstrate their learning through singing, sight-singing, movement, dance and playing classroom instruments. Students will experience a variety of musical activities in the K-5 music classroom as they learn to perform and create music, such as singing, drumming, playing the soprano recorder, playing classroom percussion instruments or the ukulele. Students will experience different styles of music and music from an array of cultures in the elementary music classroom as they explore music from across the world.
