Lake Washington School District celebrates Women in Construction Week March 2-8

Lake Washington School District celebrates Women in Construction Week March 2-8

For the last 27 years, Women in Construction (WIC) Week has been celebrated to promote the role of women in the construction industry. Lake Washington School District (LWSD) honors and commemorates the many women who have helped to build our schools and district buildings. Specifically, the group of women who currently work on our capital projects team: Laura DeGooyer, Ina Holzer, Tansy Hansen, Carly Parkins, and Melissa Heilweil.

WIC Week runs from March 2-8 this year. Started by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), WIC Week shines a light on the vital contributions of women in the industry, raises awareness of challenges faced and highlights pathways for future opportunities. It also aligns with International Women’s Day on March 8, a global celebration of the achievements of women across all industries and a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
