Three Northstar Middle School students who were selected as regional winners for their project "SkillUp" have now achieved national recognition at the Presidential AI Challenge. Viha Iyer, Shrimayi Shetty, and Arya Pratap earned first place in the Middle School Track 1 for their project, an AI-powered tool designed to support craftsmanship, handiwork and hands-on creation. Competing against more than 2,600 teams and 20,000 participants nationwide, the students impressed judges with their innovation and practical application of artificial intelligence. The event was held June 8-9 at the White House in Washington, D.C. Results were announced and awards presented on June 9, where each student received a $10,000 prize and was personally recognized by First Lady Melania Trump. During their visit, the students also had the opportunity to visit the FBI and present their work to U.S. Senators, underscoring the national significance of their achievement.
