LWHS student app challenge winnters

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01) recently announced that Lake Washington High School sibling tandem Isabella Guan, sophomore, and Nathan Guan, senior, are winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge from Washington’s 1st Congressional District. The duo was chosen for their “Read Buddy for Neurodivergent” app. Read Buddy is a reading assistant tool designed to support neurodivergent people with reading comprehension support while minimizing distractions. Read Buddy scans printed text and converts it into a digital format. This creates an interactive reading experience to foster comprehension and focus. A demo of Read Buddy can be found here.

The winning app was selected by a panel of impartial judges from the community. Read Buddy will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year, along with winning apps from other congressional districts.

DelBene was a Co-chair of the Congressional App Challenge during the 116th Congress. More about the Congressional App Challenge can be found here.
