Play ball! – Redmond High School unveils new baseball and softball fields

Play ball! – Redmond High School unveils new baseball and softball fields
RHS Softball field first pitch by Superintendent Stavem

On a surprise 70-degree day on March 18, Redmond High School (RHS) cut the ribbon on their brand-new baseball and softball fields. Superintendent Dr. Jane Stavem delivered a speech before the games alongside Redmond Mayor John Marchione. Shortly after, RHS Principal Jane Todd cut the ribbon on the softball field while Associate Principal Jill Vanderveer did the same on the baseball field. Dr. Stavem then threw out the first pitch on the softball field while deputy superintendent Dr. Jon Holmen tossed the inaugural ball on the baseball field.

“There is nothing better to kick off springtime than a great baseball and softball game this afternoon,” said Dr. Stavem. “We want to tell our community members how grateful we are for everything that you’ve done that’s contributed to having these beautiful revamped facilities.”

Both the softball and baseball teams played their home openers against Eastlake High School (EHS) after the opening festivities. RHS softball won 9-4 while EHS baseball bested RHS 6-2.
