Lake Washington High School seniors help pass e-bike safety bill in Olympia
LWHS bill signing with governor

As part of their AP U.S. Government and Politics class, seniors at Lake Washington High School worked with state Representative Zahn and Senator Shewmake to pass Senate Bill 6110. Eunjae Jeon, on the far right of the image of the bill signing, with William Callahan, Malia Donohue, Emerson Repass, Tate Kuhn and Clare Goodrich, all helped in seeing the bill cross the finish line. The students presented their bill proposal to state representatives and testified for the House and Senate Transportation committees. SB 6110 clarifies the speed and wattage limits for electric bicycles and directs the Department of Licensing to decide on solutions for the proliferation of dangerously powerful e-bikes, especially among school-aged children.
