Double the fun – Twin sisters from Redmond High School win computing awards

Sisters from Redmond High School win computing awards

Two Redmond High School (RHS) juniors have been selected as recipients of the 2025 National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Award in two categories. Sisters Sanj Saini and Sawar Saini were both awarded National Honorable Mention and Regional Award Winners for the West Coast region. This recognition highlights their dedication to computing, leadership and community impact.

According to its website, NCWIT increases participation in the technology ecosystem through innovative programs and research. Their holistic approach, informed by decades of social science research, is unique. As an exemplar organization of the NSF, NCWIT has set the standard for evaluating impact and ensuring our programs are effective and efficient. Their programs work in concert with each other to encourage engineering-thinking early, to encourage high school students to consider technical fields and to give them a continuing community of support and opportunities for growth and achievement. Evidence shows that ongoing participation in NCWIT’s K-12 programs increases students’ long-term persistence in computing.

The students hope is that these awards inspire other girls in the district to explore similar opportunities, encourage young women to pursue technology and computing, and increases awareness of such organizations that could help more students take advantage of these possibilities.
