Changes in Length of Student Day for 2025-26

The work to implement a six-period high school day for the 2025-26 school year necessitates a minor change in the student day related to our instructional hour requirements.

School districts must meet an annual instructional hour requirement of 1,027 average hours across grades 1-12. With the change in the high school schedule, we also need to adjust the student day for all levels to continue to meet this requirement and provide both equitable distribution of instructional time for students and planning time for teachers.

Beginning next school year (2025-26):

• The high school student day will be 10 minutes shorter (5 minutes later start and 5 minutes earlier release).
• The elementary and middle school student days will be 5 minutes longer (5 minutes later release).
• Middle and high school Wednesday early release will be 105 minutes.
• Elementary early release is unchanged at 90 minutes.
• Teacher workday for all levels remains 7.5 hours.
