Muir Elementary students take a hands on approach to celebrating Earth Day

Muir Elementary students take a hands on approach to celebrating Earth Day

On Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, this year, Muir Elementary students had the opportunity to plant vegetable and flower seeds in celebration of the observance! The school used milk cartons that were taken from the lunchroom trash as planting containers. The kids also got to see compost from Cedar Grove, the company that takes Muir's cafeteria food scraps with their new organics recycling program. Students got to see what their food waste will eventually turn into, and they mixed some compost into their soil to give their plants some extra nutrition.
