Future chefs prepare favorite family recipes in cooking competition

Five elementary students from LWSD schools participated in the Future Chefs Culinary Competition on February 29. The students were picked from nearly 200 submissions. Students were paired with a mentor and were challenged to create a recipe from scratch. LWSD Nutrition Services, operated by Sodexo, provided mentors who work in LWSD school kitchens. The theme was "your favorite family recipe." Students prepared samples for all the judges as well as parents and other guests. Samples were scored on taste, presentation and creativity. The competition was extremely close, but judges named Mishika Suram from Bell Elementary School as grand prize winner for her savory paneer cheel-affles.
