Communications

The goal of the communications department is to engage our communities, including parents, students, staff and community members. We provide information through a variety of media. Those communication tools include this website, social media, newsletters and more. Our goal is to provide all stakeholders the information they need.

49 school boards across the state recognized

Redmond, Wash. – For the fifth consecutive year, the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Board of Directors has been named a “Board of Distinction” by the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA). Only 49 of Washington’s 295 school boards received recognition as Boards of Distinction. LWSD is one of 17 recognized in the “Large School Districts (9,001+ students FTE)” category.

A replacement Educational Programs & Operations Levy and a replacement School Technology & Capital Projects Levy

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) will have two replacement levies on the February 10, 2026, ballot. Information on the levies is available here.

LWSD one of 16 districts selected to participate

Redmond, Wash. - Lake Washington School District (LWSD) was recently selected as one of only sixteen school districts nationwide to participate in the 2025–2026 EDSAFE AI Policy Lab Network, an initiative of the EdSAFE AI Alliance. This selection recognizes LWSD’s leadership and commitment to ensuring that every student benefits from safe, equitable, and effective educational opportunities.

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is located between Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, to the east of Seattle. Covering 76 square miles, LWSD is the public school district for the cities of Kirkland and Redmond as well as about half of Sammamish. On the north end of the district, some Bothell and Woodinville residents also attend our schools. The district map shows school locations and boundaries.
