Transition Academy is a community-based program for young adults (18 - 21 years of age) with developmental disabilities in the Lake Washington School District. Students must have finished high school and be interested in continuing their preparation for work and life in the community.

Unlike a traditional classroom, the Academy is a base for "real classrooms." Those classrooms include a wide variety of settings in the greater Redmond-Kirkland-Bellevue communities. The curriculum consists of "typical" activities that occur in these "typical" settings. Students, families, and Academy staff work with a variety of agency partners (DDD, DVR, Supported Employment Vendors, etc.) to plan a successful transition.
