The 50th anniversary of Earth Day will be different than most. Schools won’t be doing their usual Earth Day activities this year. But many schools have been working to achieve or maintain their King County Green Schools status throughout the year.
LWSD schools recently honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The all-girls team “Infinity Builders” comprised of students from Lake Washington School District and Northshore School District earned top marks in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) for Washington.
Students at Horace Mann Elementary and Redmond Middle School recently met with New York Times Best-Selling Author Alan Gratz.
Thirteen LWSD schools advanced a level in the King County Green Schools sustainability recognition program this year. The program provides hands-on help, guidance for Green Teams, and the tools schools need, such as information, indoor recycling bins, and a variety of conservation signs, to make improvements.
Still hungry? Students at five schools have been able to pick up unopened food from a “share bin” this spring.
