The November 2025 Construction Update from the Rebuild & Enlarge project at Rockwell Elementary shares that the new school is taking shape - with exterior and interior walls being installed.

Last school year at Redmond Elementary, a simple visit from the grounds crew turned into an unforgettable adventure for one curious first grader named Arijit. From the moment the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) grounds crew arrived, Arijit was captivated. Not just by the rumble of machinery and the whir of tools, but by the possibility of learning how everything worked.

Students at Franklin Elementary were recently treated to a special visit from two members of the Seattle Kraken organization. Kraken center Frederick Gaudreau, and the team's beloved mascot, Buoy, spent an afternoon visiting select classrooms.

On October 7, Muir Elementary School was transformed into a vibrant hub of hands-on learning as volunteers came together to build a new Outdoor Learning Lab. This inspiring initiative was made possible through a partnership between the Seattle Seahawks, Monolithic Power Systems and OutTeach, a national nonprofit dedicated to turning outdoor spaces into dynamic learning environments.

The City of Kirkland and Rainworks teamed up with Muir Elementary and Kirkland Middle School to help spread the word about pollutants found in stormwater runoff. To highlight the impact of stormwater pollution, the city’s Storm & Surface Water Division installed temporary, eco-friendly art on both campuses.

Lakeview Elementary students got a special visit from the Kirkland Fire Department. As part of Fire Prevention Week, Kirkland fire fighters stopped by the school to share fire safety lessons with grades K-2 in a fun and engaging way.

On October 8, Franklin Elementary students and their families came together to celebrate National Walk & Roll to School Day.
