Rockwell Elementary is in the middle of an unforgettable year. On December 18, students and families gathered for the topping out ceremony for the school’s new building.

Student crossing guards from Juanita Elementary were on hand to help the City of Kirkland celebrate the completion of the 100th Avenue Northeast Corridor Improvements Project with a Blue Friday ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 12.

On November 19 and 20, Rose Hill Elementary had the privilege of hosting students from the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Transition Academy, who generously dedicated their time and talents to serve drinks to the entire Rose Hill staff.

Students at Thoreau Elementary are pedaling into a new era of safety and fun! This year, they became the first participants in the Let’s Go Bicycle Program, a statewide initiative funded by the Climate Commitment Act and administered by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), which selected Cascade Bicycle Club to design and implement the program.

On November 26, Redmond Elementary School’s fifth graders turned creativity and technology into a celebration for their youngest peers. For the second year in a row, the school hosted a Book Character Parade, a unique event where fifth graders designed and programmed robotic parade floats for an audience of excited kindergarten students.

At Rockwell Elementary, creativity is thriving thanks to fifth grader Ishanth Maheshwaran, whose original card game, Battle Beasts, has become one of the most popular activities in the school’s Extended Day program.

EcoBeyond is a student-led sustainability initiative focused on increasing the availability of recycling opportunities for commonly discarded school supplies such as pens, markers and crayons. Led by Aarav Gumber, a junior at Tesla STEM High School, EcoBeyond empowers students to act against plastic waste in the form of school supplies through recycling drives.
