The sixth graders at Rose Hill Middle School worked on an exciting new unit on ecosystems restoration in science this fall. During this unit, students not only learned what makes a healthy forest ecosystem but also got the opportunity to plan and execute their very own restoration project for a damaged ecosystem on Rose Hill’s campus.

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) has 33 elementary schools (grades K-5), 14 middle schools (grades 6-8) and nine high schools (grades 9-12) throughout Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish, Washington. LWSD has 29 neighborhood elementary schools. In addition, four choice elementary schools provide optional schooling alternatives and meet specific needs and interests.

There are four neighborhood high schools in the district. In addition, five choice high schools serve specific needs and interests, including academic rigor, an increased pace of study, vocational programs and project-based learning.
