The Lake Washington Inclusion Preschool Program offers a comprehensive early childhood learning experience. Classes include typically developing children as well as students receiving special education. Students in the tuition-based program are registered based on available space. Students qualifying for special education or students at risk based on income level do not pay a fee for attendance. Non-tuition student selection is based on completion of a Head Start application (link words ‘Head Start Application’ to the Head Start page).
Each classroom is staffed with:
- Special education teacher
- General education ed teacher
- Paraeducator
Additional staff may serve classrooms based on individual student needs, including:
- Occupational therapist
- Speech and language pathologist
- Physical therapist
- Additional paraeducator support
Class size range from 15-18 students on average with a 50:50 ratio of students receiving special education supports and those with no identified developmental delays (tuition-based students).
Tuition-based preschool
Tuition for inclusion preschool students is $4,750 per school year. ($475 monthly payments September- May). A deposit of $475 is required upon enrollment and counts toward your June tuition/payment.

Special education preschool services
Children who have a disability that adversely impacts their education may be eligible for services and/or placement in a preschool classroom, including transportation. The district’s Child Find department provides developmental evaluations to determine if a child has a disability that qualifies him/her for services. Children are eligible if they are at least 3 years old and have qualifying scores on the assessment in one or more of the following areas:
- Cognitive
- Communication
- Fine motor
- Gross motor
- Social/emotional
- Adaptive skills
If you have concerns about your child’s development or have been referred for an evaluation, please contact our Child Find Intake Coordinator, Linda Pankow at 425-936-2846 to determine if an assessment is appropriate for your child. If your child has an IEP and is already enrolled in our preschool program and is not yet age-eligible for kindergarten, no action is needed. Your student will roll into the next school year for preschool.
Some students receiving Special Education services in preschool may also be eligible for services through our SNAPS Program. More information regarding SNAPS can be found here.
