Extended Day Program
LWSD's Extended Day Program provides before and after school care for elementary students
The Extended Day Program offered by Lake Washington School District offers high quality childcare both before and after school for elementary age students within the district. This is the only district-operated before and after school care program offered within the schools. View the Extended Day Program Handbook for additional information.
A ratio of one Instructional Assistant for every 15 to 18 children is maintained at all of the school sites.
Activities offered include:
- Completing homework
- Playing sports and general recreation
- Completing arts and crafts
- Playing games
- Reading
- Storytelling
- Listening to music
Breakfast is provided before school and light snacks are offered in the afternoon.
Extended Day Program - Schools served and schedules
This program operates on regularly scheduled school days, beginning with the first day of school in September. In addition, the Extended Day Program operates when children are out of school on staff training days, Wednesday early release days, and during parent-teacher conferences.

Eligibility and cost
To be eligible for the Extended Day program, a child must be of elementary school age and be enrolled in Lake Washington School District at one of the 13 schools that offers the Extended Day program.
Extended Day is a self-supporting program. A monthly tuition is charged September through June. Pro-rated fees will be established for those using the program less than full time. See the below charts for details.
To apply for reduced fee rates, please submit a free or reduced meals application here and fill out the Extended Day Consent to Share form: English.

Fees will be charged on Conference and Half Days after 3:00 p.m. based on your current Extended Day Contract. Leap Days will not be an Extended Day Option. Leap Days have been reserved for training workshops for the Extended Day Instructional Assistants.
Waitlist
To be placed on the current waitlist for the Extended Day Program, please fill out this form.
Families requesting full-time enrollment (Monday through Friday mornings and afternoons) currently have priority.
Email confirmation will be sent confirming placement on the Extended Day waitlist.
Please note: a family must remain actively enrolled at the LWSD school housing the Extended Day Program to remain on the waitlist.
