COVID safety protocols led to a different looking Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Culinary Competition this year. The event took place virtually with students cooking from their own kitchens.

Use important skills like working together and being creative when building your own Virtual Family Field Day. LWSD’s wonderful physical education teachers created field day ideas for families to try at home. The station examples are based on physical education standards which will help students become more physically literate by learning and practicing motor skills. One way to get energized is to try out new ways to move! Hip Hop Public Health’s short instructional dance videos are a fun way to get moving. Try out Slide Up & Back, the Yaaas Bounce or the Cross & Dip. While you’re there, listen to the handwashing song "20 Seconds or More."

Exercising and staying active while homebound can be fun and even help families stay on top of housework. The American Heart Association shares creative and fun ways for families to include movement in their day. From making active chore cards to playing actively with pets, suggestions help combine exercise with daily activities. Other tips, such as taking turns being the DJ for a dance break or playing active games like hide-and-seek, are also included.
