Police Chief for a Day – a first grader’s dream come true

Bryce Stubblefield, a first grade student at Twain Elementary School, wants to be a police officer when he grows up. And his dream is about to come true! The City of Kirkland Police Department chose Bryce to be their 2018 Police Chief for a Day.

Mead gives back to the community and connects families

Mead Elementary PTSA hosted a used book and clothing fair during the week of January 22, and a pancake breakfast on Friday. Students, parents, teachers and community members donated 5,419 books. The fair earned $1,100 for the school and provided teachers with 1,000 books for their classrooms.

The Teaching and Learning Department provides leadership for standards-based teaching and assessing in district schools to increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success.

Department staff members coordinate the implementation of standards, and the adoption, development, integration, and implementation of curriculum aligned to standards.
