That’s outstanding – Lake Washington HS teacher given award for exceptional work in history classes
A teacher at Lake Washington High School (LWHS) is making history. Michael Dawson, history teacher at LWHS, recently received the 2021 Thomas J. and Cameron Pressly Endowed Prize for Outstanding History or Social Studies Teacher in Washington Schools. Dawson was presented the award at a ceremony on May 12 at the University of Washington (UW), which is the school that gives out the award. In addition to a framed certificate, he also received a prize of $3,000. Dawson was nominated by two of his former history students.
According to the UW website, the award is named for Professor Emeritus Thomas J. Pressly and his wife Cameron. This fund honors outstanding teachers of history or social studies in Washington schools. The Department of History invites students and others to nominate those they feel are deserving of this prize.
