Teacher Appreciation

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We want to recognize and honor all our outstanding teachers who are the heart and soul of education. Thank you, teachers, for working hard each and every day to elevate our students to become successful in school and beyond. We celebrate you today and every day!

The lists are out and Lake Washington School District (LWSD) musicians are major players for this year’s musical honor groups. On even school years, the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) choses students from across the state from Middle School to High School to participate in WMEA State Honors Music Groups. Sixty-nine high schoolers and 55 middle schoolers come from LWSD schools this year.

Earth Day 2022

Students across the district supported and celebrated sustainability efforts in their schools all week for Earth Day 2022.

Sister, sister – Two LWSD sisters earn silver medals at national mountain bike event

Artz sisters national mountain bike event

What’s better than one Artz sister winning a silver medal? Two Artz sisters winning silver medals. Lily Artz, Finn Hill Middle School seventh grader, and Emma Artz, Juanita High School senior, each took home second place at the recent USA Cycling National Championships in Winter Park, Colo. The championships featured a brand new High School Cycling Festival that allows younger riders to get a head start on future competitions. The sisters each competed in the downhill mountain bike racing portion of the festival. According to the USA Cycling website, the festival, open to all high school riders and their families, will provide opportunities to participate in ride events, seminars, and clinics; meet college and university representatives, and represent their schools in the High School Mountain Bike National Championships.
