Eighteen LWSD students on their way to National History Day competition after virtual state event
Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students performed very well at this year’s Washington State National History Day (NHD) event. Eighteen LWSD students in six categories won at the competition held virtually in early May. You can view the full virtual awards ceremony on YouTube.
This year’s NHD theme is “Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.” Students who finish in first and second place in each category go on to the National contest. Eighteen LWSD students earned their way to the National event which will be held virtually from Sunday, June 13 through Saturday, June 19. In addition, 15 LWSD students were special award winners during the competition.
Special Recognition went to Jill Berge who was recognized as Washington History Day Teacher of the Year – Senior Division from Lake Washington High School.
Evergreen Middle School was also awarded the title of Washington History Day Outstanding School – Junior Division.
