17th annual “Royal Track Meet” brings 140 elementary students to Rose Hill Middle School

On May 31, Rose Hill Middle School (RHMS) track coach Rodney Thornley hosted the 17th annual “Royal Track Meet.” 140 kindergarten through fifth grade students from schools that feed into RHMS participated in the event, while parents watched from the sidelines. Students could enter as many events as they wanted to. Events included the 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800-meter races, a mile-long race and the long jump. Coach Thornley and RHMS athletes ran the event and provided encouragement to the younger runners and jumpers. The track meet provides a way for students to be active outdoors, while visiting their future middle school.
