They’re creepy and they’re kooky – JHS drama receives two 5th Avenue Awards nominations and three honorable mentions for “The Addams Family”
All four Lake Washington School District comprehensive high schools received nominations for this year’s The 5th Avenue Awards: Honoring High School Musical Theater. Juanita High School (JHS) brought in the most recognition with two nominations, three honorable mentions and one special honor for The Addams Family.
The 5th Avenue Theatre evaluators attended 119 productions around Washington state this year. They then nominated the best for awards in multiple categories, including outstanding overall musical, lighting design and many more.
Redmond High School (RHS) earned two nominations and one honorable mention for The Music Man. Lake Washington High School (LWHS) earned one nomination for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. And Eastlake High School (EHS) earned one nomination and an honorable mention for Disney and Cameron McIntosh’s Mary Poppins.
The 5th Avenue Theatre will host an awards ceremony on June 11.

- Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Featured Ensemble Role: Sara Leste as LeFou, LWHS, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
- Outstanding Orchestra: EHS, Disney and Cameron McIntosh’s Mary Poppins
- Special Honors: Student Achievement - JHS, Sarah Baker, The Addams Family
- Honorable Mention-Outstanding Lighting Design: JHS, The Addams Family
- Honorable Mention-Outstanding Stage Crew: JHS, The Addams Family
- Honorable Mention-Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Matthew Triplett as Gomez, JHS, The Addams Family
