Nearly 600 students in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska put together inspiring work at this year’s Holocaust Center for Humanity (HCH) contest. Out of all those entries, four Nikola Tesla STEM High School students placed in the top three. This year’s “Celebrating Life: 2022 Holocaust Writing, Art, and Film Contest,” put on by HCH, challenges students to explore the history and stories of the Holocaust.
Emma Artz, senior at Juanita High School and Jack Spranger, senior at Eastlake High School were recently named to the 2022 USA Cycling National Team.
Adhya Kona, a junior at Nikola Tesla STEM High School, will be joining a collective next school year that will showcase her talents in poetry. Adhya was invited to join the Seattle Youth Poet Laureate (YPL) cohort for the 2022-23 school year.
One student from Juanita High School was so moved by a museum visit that she turned it into an essay. Now, Elizabeth Orswell, sophomore, is headed to the east coast this summer for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
High school students from Lake Washington School District (LWSD) made a splash at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Six of the seven participating students won awards at the fair that ran from May 7-13 in Atlanta, Ga.
A total of 316 LWSD students received an invitation to the DECA State Career Development Conference from March 3-5. The students competed at the DECA state competition at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Wash. on January 7. Any competitors who place in an event are eligible for the state competition. Students from all four comprehensive high schools competed. The state competition will also be held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.
