In this time of remote learning, Thoreau Elementary teacher Caroline Amundsen inspired her third-grade class to explore their creativity and hone their writing skills. Over the course of the fall, the students learned the fundamentals of writing and spent weeks drafting, revising, editing and illustrating their stories.

“This whole project has inspired the kids and lifted their spirits, motivating them to become more engaged and find something to share with their peers and families,” said Ms. Amundsen.

With support from the community and a teacher grant from Thoreau’s PTA, each student and the school’s library received a copy of their class’ printed book before the holidays.
