Police Chief for a Day – a first grader’s dream come true

Bryce Stubblefield, a first grade student at Twain Elementary School, wants to be a police officer when he grows up. And his dream is about to come true! The City of Kirkland Police Department chose Bryce to be their 2018 Police Chief for a Day.

Mead gives back to the community and connects families

Mead Elementary PTSA hosted a used book and clothing fair during the week of January 22, and a pancake breakfast on Friday. Students, parents, teachers and community members donated 5,419 books. The fair earned $1,100 for the school and provided teachers with 1,000 books for their classrooms.

Thoreau teacher named STAR 101.5 Teacher of the Week


Henry David Thoreau Elementary School teacher Casey Conroy and her fourth/fifth grade Quest class were surprised by STAR 101.5 and the King-Pierce Counties Dairy Ambassador on October 19. Conroy was the recipient of the STAR 101.5 Elementary Teacher of the Week award. She was nominated by her student, Trisha Wui.

Each student received a goody bag from Dairy Farmers of Washington, Living Computers: Museum + Labs, KOMO 4, and STAR 101.5. Conroy received a personalized plaque from Trophies2Go, a Living Computers: Museum + Labs gift card, and a $100 gift card from Daniel’s Broiler. She will also receive a makeover courtesy of Blanc N’ Schwartz Salon in Kent.
