The Samantha Smith Elementary School teacher was surprised to learn she is one of 16 Symetra Heroes in the Classroom during the 2017 NFL season. “I love to learn, so being a teacher is a great way to embrace learning every single day,” she said.

Symetra and the Seahawks will recognize her during a Seahawks game (in her custom jersey), where she will be an honored guest. The award comes with a $2,000 donation to Smith Elementary in Byrne’s honor.
