LWSD bus driver puts students first during smoke scare

Wade Minor, Lake Washington School District bus driver, acted quickly when smoke appeared in the back of the bus. Minor was transporting approx. 20 students when a mechanical issue forced him to pull over the afternoon of Sept. 6.

    Muir families travel abroad at Heritage Night


    Student wears traditional clothing from Colombia in front of display about the countryJohn Muir Elementary School families shared their cultures and traditions at Heritage Night on October 12. Informational displays represented each country. Students received a stamp in their Heritage Night passport for every country they “visited”.

    Family wears traditional clothing from Russia in front of display about the countryFamilies enjoyed food, traditional clothing, and special performances by the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Capoeria Brazilian Martial Arts Troupe, and the Seattle Kokon Taiko Japanese Drummers.

    Countries represented at Muir’s Heritage Night included: Argentina, Armenia, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Finland, India, Ireland, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, Vietnam and Zambia.
