Students at Rockwell Elementary spent time this spring writing notes of appreciation to share just how grateful they are to City of Redmond workers. Students thanked the workers for continuing to work during the global pandemic.
Kirk Elementary fourth graders get hands-on experience running a town
Fourth graders at Kirk Elementary capped off a year-long study of civics and finance with a fun and educational trip to JA (Junior Achievement) BizTown in Auburn. The field trip was the students’ chance to put into practice the lessons they learned throughout the year about banking, operating a business and saving for college.
On Kirk’s trip to JA BizTown, students were placed in companies and sent to “work” for the day where they created payroll, operated their business, took out loans and created advertisements. Fourth-grade teacher Annette Bovey enthused, “They had a great time seeing everything that goes into running a business.”
