LWSD bus driver puts students first during smoke scare

Wade Minor, Lake Washington School District bus driver, acted quickly when smoke appeared in the back of the bus. Minor was transporting approx. 20 students when a mechanical issue forced him to pull over the afternoon of Sept. 6.

    Back to school Blitz – Seahawks mascot and grant money presentation highlight back to school event


    Seattle Seahawks mascot, Blitz, poses with three students and a large frameThe John Muir Elementary PTSA held their annual Welcome Back Social just a few days after school started. Families, staff and community members spent time greeting one another and meeting with a very special guest; Blitz, the Seattle Seahawks mascot. Blitz took several photos with students and families. He also tossed the football around and had some fun with a few Dallas Cowboys fans.

    John Muir Elementary receives a donation for their music departmentThe Muir PTSA Art Docent set up a rock painting station for students. The painted rocks are now on display in the garden beds by the front entrance. Muir received a donation of $3,634 from Music Aid Northwest for the 2018-19 school year. The money will be used by the school’s music department.
