May 27, 2021: Planning for 2021-22
Dear Lake Washington School District Families:
Lake Washington School District is excited to announce that we will offer full in-person learning, five days per week in the 2021-22 school year.
On Thursday, May 13, the Washington Department of Health announced guidance for the 2021-22 school year. Each school will provide full time, in person learning for all students. Many pieces of guidance that we have followed for Spring 2021 will be updated and changed going into the 2021-22 school year. Daily attestation will not be required in 2021-22. Masks continue to be required in P-12 schools.
We assume all enrolled students will participate in the fully in-person model for 2021-22. If that is true for your family, no action is needed from you. If you have a potential need for an online learning option for next year, please continue reading.
Online Learning Option
For the 2021-22 school year, the State of Washington has allowed school districts to offer online learning for students who are unable to return in-person due to health and safety needs. This online learning option has parameters that we must meet.
The default learning model for all students will be in-person. We know that some families may be interested in an online learning option for health and safety reasons. In order to determine the best program model to offer, we need more information from families who are interested in participating.
Here are some details we know about our online learning option for 2021-22:
- Online learning will be for students who need it due to health and safety reasons.
- If families select the online learning model, this selection will be for the entire 2021-22 school year.
- Not all classes can be offered in an online learning model, due to staffing constraints.
Next Steps – Online Learning Interest Survey
If you are interested in your student being part of an online learning option, please complete this survey: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/Online-Learning-2021-22.
This is an interest survey, and is not your final learning model selection.
The survey will be open until Thursday, June 3 at 11:59 p.m.
