December 23, 2021: LWSD Positive Case Response for the Remainder of Winter Break

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff,

This message is a notification of Lake Washington School District’s positive case response for the remainder of winter break. By this date it is unlikely that any positive cases in students or staff of LWSD occurred on campus or in district-related events where other students or staff may have been close contacts. As such, we are pausing our positive case response for the remainder of winter break.

What does this mean for you?

  • If your student develops symptoms of COVID-19, keep your student home (“quarantine”), and contact their health care provider for clinical evaluation and testing.
  • If your student tests positive for COVID-19 between 12-24-21 and 1-2-22 they should not attend school, child care, or participate in other social or community activities during quarantine. Contact your student’s school on Monday, 1-3-22 to determine when your student may return to school.
  • If your student is identified as a close contact between 12-24-21 and 1-2-22 and they are fully vaccinated (2 weeks after last vaccination dose) and do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 they may attend school on Monday 1-3-22.
  • If your student is identified as a close contact between 12-24-21 and 1-2-22 and they are unvaccinated they should not attend school on 1-3-22. Contact your student’s school to determine when your student may return to school.

A follow-up message will be sent toward the end of winter break to remind families/guardians and staff to remain home if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19, or are an unvaccinated close contact of someone with COVID-19. Together we can help slow the spread of this virus. We wish you a safe, happy, and healthy winter break.
