Fifteen Lake Washington School District students receive National Merit $2500 Scholarships

Redmond, Wash. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced today that 15 Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students will receive National Merit $2500 Scholarships. Fifty-two students were selected statewide for these awards.

The students receiving National Merit $2500 Scholarships are:

  • Rishi Cherian, (Kirkland), Lake Washington High School
  • Chegu Vijay Aashray, (Redmond), Nikola Tesla STEM High School
  • Anshu Aggarwal, (Redmond), Nikola Tesla STEM High School
  • Saraswathy Amjith, (Redmond), Nikola Tesla STEM High School
  • Selin Filiz, (Redmond), International Community School
  • Dhyana Magesh, (Redmond), Redmond High School
  • Sidharth K. Rajagopal, (Redmond), Redmond High School
  • Divya Ramu, (Redmond), Nikola Tesla STEM High School
  • Sitara Ravishankar, (Redmond), Lake Washington High School
  • Aadhav Saravanan, (Redmond), Redmond High School
  • Saathvik Somujayabalan, (Redmond), Nikola Tesla STEM High School
  • Arjun Balaji, (Sammamish), Eastlake High School
  • Maanit Goel, (Sammamish), Eastlake High School
  • Chaeyoung Yoon, (Sammamish), Eastlake High School
  • Sanjay Rajesh, (Woodinville), Redmond High School

These students are 15 of the 2,500 distinguished high school seniors nationwide to win this scholarship. They were selected from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program.

National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors. They select students based on their academic record including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned; scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the finalist and a recommendation written by a high school official. These scholars may use their awards at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.
