More than 4,100 distinguished students recognized nationwide

Redmond, Wash. – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced this week that one additional Lake Washington School District (LWSD) student will receive a National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarship:

Kevin Zhang, Nikola Tesla STEM High School - National Merit Purdue University Scholarship 

Redmond, Wash. – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced today that three Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students will receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships:

  • Andrey Piterkin, International Community School - National Merit Northeastern University Scholarship 
  • Abhinav Diddee, Nikola Tesla STEM High School - National Merit Northeastern University Scholarship
  • Eleanor R. Harris, Eastlake High School - National Merit Case Western Reserve University Scholarship

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is partnering with Seattle Visiting Nurse’s Association (SVNA) to offer free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics for eligible LWSD students, families, and staff. SVNA is preparing to administer more than 4,000 doses at four clinics the weekend of May 22 and 23.



    Lake Washington School District Announces Pathway Forward

    Redmond, Wash. – At a live event on the evening of Wednesday, January 6, Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Superintendent, Dr. Jon Holmen, announced Pathway Forward, LWSD’s plan to return students to in-person learning for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. 
    In-person services will begin on Thursday, February 4 for Kindergarten and first grade students, on Thursday, February 18 for second and third grade students, and on Thursday, February 25 for fourth and fifth grade students. Middle school and high school students will have in-person start dates in March. More details on the in-person model for secondary students will be released as they are developed.

    Re-opening timeline

    Families will choose fully-remote or in-person services.  

    This pathway was developed using the latest orders, proclamations and guidance from: The Governor’s Office, the Washington State Department of Health, King County Public Health, the Department of Labor and Industry, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
