Five LWSD students receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships

3,200 distinguished students recognized nationwide

Redmond, Wash. - The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced today that five Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students will receive National Merit College-Sponsored Scholarships:

  • Hunter Trewin, Lake Washington H.S. – National Merit University of Alabama Scholarship
  • Stephen Fitch, Jr., Tesla STEM H.S. – National Merit Carleton College Scholarship
  • Martin Randal, Redmond H.S. – National Merit Vanderbilt University Scholarship
  • Samantha Moynihan, Eastlake H.S. – National Merit University of Southern California Scholarship
  • Siri Mellem, Redmond H.S. – National Merit St. Olaf College Scholarship

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among Finalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
