Lake Washington tuition preschool program now accepting entry into enrollment lottery for 2023-24 school year

The tuition-based Lake Washington preschool program is now accepting entries into our enrollment lottery for the 2023-24 school year. New families interested in securing a seat for their child to enroll at one of the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Preschool Sites in the 2023-24 school year, need to complete a preschool lottery entry form found at https://www.lwsd.org/programs-and-services/preschool.

Currently enrolled/returning preschool students, preschool students on an IEP or students enrolled in our Head Start program do not need to fill out a lottery entry form.

Forms received before March 31, 2023 will be entered into a lottery for a seat in the LWSD preschool program. Lottery will be held the week of April 17, 2023 and families will be notified by April 24, 2023. Any students who do not receive a seat via the lottery will be placed on a waitlist for that preschool location/session.

Families on the waitlist at specific preschool locations will be called and offered seats as they become available.

Please direct any questions to Nichole Townsend, preschool registrar at ntownsend@lwsd.org.

It’s not too late to claim the 2021 Child Tax Credit

Even if you received advanced payments or didn’t file a tax return

If you don’t normally file a tax return, but you’re eligible for the Child Tax Credit, you can still claim the 2021 Child Tax Credit by filing a 2021 tax return - even if you had no income in 2021. Advance payments sent in 2021 were not the full amount of the credit.

The 2021 Child Tax Credit is $3,600 for each qualifying child who was under age 6 in 2021 and $3,000 for each child who was age 6 to 17 in 2021.

If you’re eligible to claim the 2021 Child Tax Credit, you must file a tax return by April 15, 2025, to claim the refund. IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a great option for people who are only filing a tax return to claim the 2021 Child Tax Credit.

Visit www.IRS.gov/VITA to find the site nearest you and a list of what to bring.

See the special section on IRS.gov about claiming the Child Tax Credit if you aren’t required to file a tax return. Learn more at 2021 Child Tax Credit Frequently Asked Questions.

About 60 students from EastlakeJuanita and Redmond high schools are in contention for an International Thespian Excellence Award, or Thespy for short. These thespians performed in front of judges at the Northwest Regional showcase in January at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.
