Schools emphasize habits that reduce waste during Earth Day

Lake Washington is a recognized leader in sustainability practices and education. Schools around the district encourage students to actively participate in sustainable practices with special events in April to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.

Groundbreaking ceremony at Peter Kirk Elementary School

We are Peter Kirk!” Students sang enthusiastically during the ceremonial groundbreaking for Peter Kirk Elementary School on March 30. The new building will house 690 students and is expected to open in September 2019.

Love the Environment, Ride Your Bike, be Healthy

As Earth Day approaches, Rose Hill Elementary staff, alumni and community members took a moment to honor a former teacher, who was also a strong advocate for protecting our environment. Cass Avery was a teacher at Rose Hill Elementary for over 10 years.

Tandem Online Calendar Support

A school calendar customized for your family

When is your daughter’s choir performance? How about your son’s basketball game? Lake Washington Schools use the Tandem Online Calendar to share school-specific events and activities in an online format. Tandem calendars can be filtered and customized to show only the events that are relevant for your family. You can even create an account and receive notifications when events are added, changed or cancelled.

Each school uses a three or four letter acronym to designate their events on the district calendar. That way, it is easy to see which schools have events each day. If you want to receive notifications about events that matter to you, sign up for a “My Tandem” account. It’s free! With a “My Tandem” account, you can:

  • Filter the calendar to only show the events that are important to you.
  • Import events into your personal calendar (including Outlook, Google, iCal, Yahoo and more).
  • Receive emails or text messages (or both!) notifications when events are added or changed.
  • Get directions and maps to event locations.

If I sign up for a “My Tandem” account, is my information safe?
